I · The Vow Studio

Write the vows you could not have written the first time.

Finish any of the sentences below in your own words, add up to five promises, and we put them together, time them for speaking and set them out as a reading card. Nothing you type here is stored.

i Begin Your partner's first name

Opening line

[Name], years ago I stood beside you and made you a promise. I am here to make it again. [Name], I would marry you all over again, so today I will. [Name], I said these words once without knowing what they would cost or what they would give. Now I know, and I say them again. My own opening:

ii Then Where you started The first thing I noticed about you was… On our wedding day I did not yet know… When I first said my vows, I thought love meant…

iii Since What the years have held The hardest stretch we came through was… A small, ordinary thing you do that I never want to lose is… Something we built together that I am proud of is…

iv Now Who you are today Who you are now, that I could not have known then, is… What I understand about love now is… I still laugh every time…

v Next What comes after this The years ahead I picture with you are… When we are older still, I want us to… What I most want you to hear today is…

vi Promises up to five I promise to I promise to I promise to I promise to I promise to

vii Close So here I am, swearing it again: I choose you, today and every day after. Everything I promised then, I promise now, with my eyes open. I loved you then. I love you more now. I will love you still. My own closing:
