Updated October 17, 2026: the public reading pages now show one banner ad (see Advertising).
- No accounts, no email, no names required. A Renewal Book holds only what you type into it: first names, dates, a place, a time zone, ticks, a ceremony plan, both sides of the vows and your promises.
- Links are keys. We store only a SHA-256 fingerprint of the Book link and of each vow link, so we cannot look them up or send them to you. The full link does appear in our web server's access logs for as long as the host keeps them.
- Vows and promises are encrypted in the database with this site's own key. That key is held on our server (and in a protected backup), so the server could decrypt them; the site's code shows sealed vows only by the opening rule, and no person here reads them. Names, dates and the place are stored as typed.
- The Vow Studio and the Ceremony Runner store nothing. Their answers are worked out and sent back; nothing is saved.
- Deleting: the Delete button in a Book removes it at once with both sides and every promise. Books not opened for 400 days are deleted automatically. Nightly database backups are kept for 14 days.
- Addresses: to stop abuse we count requests per network address per hour, stored only as a salted hash and cleared after two days.
- Cookies: one security cookie on pages with forms, to protect them from forged requests. No tracking cookies and no analytics services. The only outside service any page loads is the banner from adengine.us on the public reading pages, described under Advertising; it also counts one page view per page as a daily total.
- Payments (when switched on) will be handled by PayPal; we will never see a card number.

The public reading pages of Swear Again (the home page, How it works, Pricing, About, and the Ceremony Runner and Anniversary Math pages before you enter anything) show one banner ad from AdEngine (adengine.us), the small ad network run by WeldonPC, the company behind this site. For now the ads are for WeldonPC’s own services; there are still no venues, vendors or officiants to sell. The banner sits below the page’s content and is never printed. The Vow Studio, any page showing what you entered (your ceremony plan, your anniversary, your vows), Renewal Books, vow pages, this page, the terms and error pages show no ad.
To show an ad, your browser loads a script from adengine.us, asks it for one banner, loads the banner image, and reports once that the page was viewed and once that the banner was shown. Like any website, adengine.us receives your network address and your browser type with those requests, and the requests name this site; they never carry the address of the page you are on, and adengine.us never sees your names, dates, plans or vows.
- No cookies, no profile. AdEngine sets no cookies, gives you no ID and does not track you from site to site.
- How your network address is used. adengine.us looks up the approximate city for your address in a location database kept on its own server (nothing is sent to anyone else), so that ads meant for one area are shown only there. It also uses the address to count each ad view or click only once and to leave out robots and WeldonPC’s own office traffic. The address is not stored with the counts; the temporary entries made from it expire within six hours and are cleared from the server within two days.
- What is kept. Daily totals only: page views for this site, and views and clicks for each ad. The adengine.us web server also keeps a standard access log (network address, time, address requested, referring site, browser) for security; it is deleted on a rolling schedule.
- Clicking an ad passes through adengine.us, which counts the click, and then opens the advertiser’s site, which has its own privacy policy.
- Nothing about you is sold or shared.
